Introduction

The West Indian Independence Celebrations, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) designated organization responsible for the planning and presentation of the West Indian Independence Celebration, a one-day festival which is held annually in Hartford, Connecticut. The festival includes a street parade and music festival, which showcases and promotes West Indian culture, food, music, and people. The event also serves to connect natives and also future generations of West Indians born in the United States with their heritage.

*** $5, ALL DAY PARKING *** available in HPA MAT parking garage (Stilts building, 20 Church Street) or parking lot across from the Yard Goat stadium. (Both 2 minutes walk from Bushnell Park)

On Street Parking

There is metered parking available along the perimeter of the park. You must pay at the kiosks for parking Monday-Friday from 8am-6pm.

All other times, parking is FREE, including weekends. Please visit the Hartford Parking Authority website for more information.
Additionally, there are surface lots and parking garages close by.

DASH circulator bus, a free shuttle which makes several stops around the city, can be used to get from various parking garages to Bushnell Park. Please not that service might not be available on weekends.

CT fastrak  Visitors coming from Bristol, Plainville, Farmington, or New Britain should consider this option. The bus stops across the street from Bushnell Park at Union Station Check CT Fastrak schedule. (https://www.cttransit.com/services/ctfastrak)

CT Transit If you live in Hartford, please consider using the City bus which makes various stops in downtown Hartford. Best option is to take or transfer to the Asylum or Farmington Avenue bus and get off at the stop before Union Station. Check CT Transit Schedule (https://www.cttransit.com/)

Travel By Train

 

CT Rail For visitors coming from Springfield, Windsor Locks, Windsor, Berlin, Meriden, Wallingford, or New Haven, please consider taking the train to Hartford.
